Vermilion promise

Vermilion promise

She waited at the pond's edge
As her life flashed by in reflection
The pool, unable to contain
Her beauty, her excitement
Shivered with her anticipation
Shimmered in her joy
Till the sun melted
Ran liquid gold
To fill the pond with
Vermilion promise
She collected
A pinch for her own.

P.S.  This poem was inspired by a beautiful photograph by a very talented photographer, Robi Chakravarty shared on a common group . The picture was of a young bride at the edge of a river at sunset.
